Requirements

Supported platform#

The Development Preview is tested on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, x86_64 with KVM and libvirt qemu:///system. One host per installation. Other distributions and architectures are untested.

Host requirements#

You need:

  • Hardware virtualization enabled (VT-x or AMD-V), with /dev/kvm present
  • AppArmor enabled
  • At least 30 GiB free under /var/lib
  • A user with sudo
  • A libvirt storage pool and the default NAT network (the installer can create the pool with --create-pool)

Install the virtualization packages#

Ubuntu 24.04
sudo apt install qemu-system-x86 libvirt-daemon-system libvirt-clients
sudo systemctl enable --now libvirtd

Run the preflight check#

The preflight is read-only. It reports PASS, FAIL or NOT_READY with typed findings.

Read-only
bin/svavyom-ctl preflight

FAIL is never overridden. NOT_READY means something is missing that the install can proceed without (--allow-not-ready).
